Make It Monday

Desiring to reconnect with myself and awaken my passions, I've begun to implement Make It Monday! While my DS is sleeping, I will craft!  This week I decided to take an old painting and make it new!

BEFORE
Generic

Artist's Tape
(less tacky than masking tape)

 Paint the middle square black.

Paint top and bottom sections light shades that will contrast with the paint underneath.

Remove tape and paint orange juice glass.

Finished Product:
A wall reminder to stay positive!
(I outlined the letters with a sharpie for greater contrast.)
I like it.  I just wish the tape had been thicker for the lettering or that I had doubled it up... Hope this inspires you to play with what you have and get creative!

Things I Cannot Control

  • DH is an alcoholic.
  • DH says he knows his drinking prevents him from helping with DS.
  • DH says he broke a toilet in the neighborhood pool-house rolling a joint.
  • ...to be continued

Wrecking Ball: A Dance Beyond the Known

I've come upon the need for change.

I've gained weight again; this notice from my body tells me things aren't working properly. My life-style has become sloppy: I eat standing up, alone, in the car, and with lenience toward content. I lack a deep sense of being alive, passionate, and connected.

I plan to create the vitality and wonder I crave and generate resources for myself with some simple rules: many of them related to eating but I also need to tend to the psychology that led me astray. I want a life full of healthy food, friends, and explorations. I believe I will need to read more, and seek out social opportunities. I must keep learning.

Yesterday I went to a wellness program through my work. Essentially this put me up to noting that I eat too far from natural. My goals involve eating 4 servings of fruit, 6 vegetable servings, drink 9 cups of water, and log 30 minutes of physical activity a day. That's a good place to start. Along with that, I am reading Louise L. Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life.

The philosophy of my approach is based in my belief that what you focus on expands and that each of us is responsible for our experiences. I am the only one with power over my experience. As I write this, I think of examples from POWs. I will look for books that support my theory.

Meanwhile, I'd like to use this as a place to chart my growth, hold myself accountable, and share my experiences. So, if you're reading, feel free to say hi or share. I need some support.

Thanks for peeking at my journey. I wish you the best on yours!
